This week students were given this photo.
As we have been doing, students were asked to write sentences about the picture OR write a story about the picture.
They were given 15 minutes to focus and write on Tuesday.
15 more minutes on Wednesday.
Today, I taught students how to edit their work with the student friendly checklist that they are familiar with (kiddos used a red pen to fix or make changes).
I will be looking over their work and send home a copy with a marked rubric in the neat future. This will show you how your child is doing in writing. I try to do this every on a monthly basis and/or when I am shifting our focus in writing. Next week we will begin focusing on generating strong ideas in writing i.e., moving away from basic sentences to more developed and detailed sentences.
Here are some photos of us editing our work today.
