Yesterday in math we were using our base ten blocks to represent numbers.
I would say show me "34."
Students would use their place value mat and base ten blocks to build and represent the number.
Today we did a similar activity, however instead of building using the blocks we drew them in our math book. Here are some great examples! As a class we talked about how our tens need to be tall and thin and our ones need to be little squares. This way we can tell them apart.
Here is a great video that explains tens and ones. We have watched it a few times and continue to refer back to it.
If you would like to see how your child is doing in math simply write down a number from 20-99 and ask them to draw it using base ten blocks.
