We had an art filled day!

In the morning the Leighton Art Centre joined us.

The Leighton Centre brought some amazing artifacts for us to look at.

They taught us some cool sketching techniques in our new sketchbooks.
(brought home, look in backpack)

Lastly, they walked us through creating a wire sculpture!
(We brought them home today)

In the afternoon we were focusing on the art report card mark Analyzes, evaluates and responds critically to art works.

We examined some famous art pieces and noticed that artists often name their creations.

As a class we look at the following three pictures and shared as a group what we would name them.

We then went back to our desks and named our wire sculpture.  After we named them we walked around our art gallery and carefully examined our peers wire sculptures.  We were looking to see which wire sculpture caught our eye.

When we returned to our desks we responded critically to the art by explaining why we liked a particular piece.

The Leighton Art Centre uses donated old cable wires to create these amazing wire sculptures.  Please email me if you have access to some or know someone that would.  We would love to get some donated to the classroom so we can continue creating!
