Lively Letters
Word Work and Letter Sounds
Lively Letters is a program I use in the classroom. Each letter has a story, action and sound. Students are familiar with A-Z and th, sh, ch, wh, oo, oo, au, aw, oy, oi, ou, ow, er
As your child to go through each sound!
I often ask students to write words on white boards. They have to sound our the word into smaller parts and listen for the letter-blends they hear.
Ms. Ward: "please spell....ouch."
Students: try to sound it out and write it on the board
Ms. Ward: "1-2-3 show me!"
Students and Ms.Ward hold up their boards and show the correct spelling.
Pick any word that has the following sounds in them th, sh, ch, wh, oo, oo, au, aw, oy, oi, ou, ow, er.
Word List to Practice Reading
Here are a list of words that your child can practice reading. They should be able to read these words by sight (right away when they look at them).
